This video shows Buddhists using a cool app to join virtual rituals, as Thailand imposes new lockdown measures during the Buddha Day holiday.

Social gathering is currently banned in the country. Thailand has seen a surge in coronavirus cases.

The Thai government has built an online app to allow all Buddhists to join online rituals for Buddha Day or the Day of Vesak.

Footage shows followers registering, and taking part in the virtual ritual which consists of walking around the temple for three consecutive rounds with a light candle while listening to monk chants.

The clip was filmed on July 24 in the province of Nakhon Nayok.
