President Kais Saied has suspended the parliament for 30 days and dismissed the prime minster, Hichem Mechichi. On Monday, the parliament was surrounded by police and military forces. The parliament speaker, Ennahdha party leader Rached Ghannouchi, was not allowed to enter. Police were on-site to prevent clashes between Ennahdha's supporters and those who were in favor of the president’s decision.
