Two men slid down the handrail of a 3,790-step staircase along a mountain path to descend faster.

Footage shows the workers placing a green mat on the steel handrail which they sat on before sliding down in Lopburi province.

The mountain – the highest in the region – is home to the Buddhist temple Wat Khao Wong Phra Chan and visited by locals and tourists.

To save time reaching the foot of the thousands-steps stair the workers had the smart idea of sliding down instead.

An onlooker said: ‘They have done it several times so I know nothing bad will happen. They are experts but I don’t recommend people doing it.’
