A watermelon randomly exploded on a shelf at a supermarket in northern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province on July 17.

A watermelon placed on a shelf was seen popping open, spraying juice onto the floor.

According to the supermarket owner Mr Guan, the supplier decided to give him two watermelons for free.

The reason for the explosion is still unknown.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
