A 13-foot-long python proved difficult to capture for a couple of young snake catchers in West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Filmed on July 26, the footage shows the duo attempting to unravel the snake's body as it had wrapped itself around one of their hands.

Eventually, they managed to seal the python's mouth with duct tape and put it into a sack.

The reptile was later released into a forest far from any human settlements.

Footage filmed on Monday (July 26) in Karatau Agam, West Sumatra province, shows two young men who are inexperienced in catching snakes having difficulty as the snake resists and gets wrapped around the hand of the person holding its head.

Lack of preparation made the men struggle to untie the snake.

According to residents, previously the snake was seen in the ditch and was about to climb onto the road.

Residents caught the snake for fear of preying on livestock or entering people's homes and places of worship around the location.

The captured pythons are taken and released into the forest in a canyon far from settlements.
