This is the dramatic moment a hero driver deliberately flipped over his truck to avoid hitting an escaped cow on the road.

The man was travelling towards the junction when the farm animal was seen wandering between cars in front of him in Chaiyaphum, Thailand, on July 24.

He slammed on the breaks and spun the steering wheel to the right causing the vehicle to lose balance and topple onto its side.

Miraculously, the cow managed to escape injury and scampered away unscathed following the crash.

Officers from the local police station arrived at the scene to investigate the crash. They checked CCTV and noticed the brave actions of the quick-thinking driver, who is now recovering in hospital.

Police Colonel Wattanachai Jantatum said: 'We arrived at the scene to investigate the crash so we checked the street CCTV to see what happened.

'A sedan reached the u-turn point when two cows ran from the herd and crossed to the other side of the road. The truck then slowed down and swerved to avoid hitting the animals.

'A six-wheeler behind flipped to avoid a collision. We are now following up with the owner of the two cows to pay for the damages incurred.'

The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital to treat his minor injuries while his vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop for repairs.

Towing the six-wheeler to the shop caused a traffic jam in the area which lasted for almost an hour.
