'This is the tear-jerking moment a lady gave her stepfather the best birthday surprise ever... adoption papers.

Before presenting her stepdad with the papers, Cynthia Tucker handed him a wholesome letter she had penned down for him to read out loud in front of the whole family.

In the letter, Cynthia expressed gratitude to her old man for everything he had and will continue to do for her. It doesn't take the birthday boy long before he chokes up.

She wrote: "My stepfather has been in my life for as long as I can remember. He has raised me and turned me into the person I am today. He is the only father figure I have ever had, therefore I don’t see him as my stepfather, but as my Dad. I figured out that the perfect way to ask him to adopt me was to do so on his birthday."
