Villagers carry pregnant woman through mud puddle to reach destination in central India
A spine-chilling incident came to the fore in which the villagers had to take matters into their own hands to save a pregnant lady in central India's Madhya Pradesh on July 27. The incident took place in Nakatola in the Balaghat district.
Visuals feature the villagers placing the pregnant lady in distress on a cot and then carrying her on their shoulders to reach the ambulance. They walk through the mud puddle to help the woman while the others witness the incident as they reach either side. Meanwhile, the family accompanies the lady and wades through the stream filled with mud.
Due to the lack of paved road in Nakatola village under the village council of Daldala in Balaghat district, the locals had to resort to cots to bring the pregnant woman named Rajni Markam to the health center for delivery in Ukwa. They had to cover a distance of around 2 km (1.2 miles) after the ambulance could not reach the spot on time. They struggled to cross the swamp but somehow managed to take her to the ambulance, from where she went to the hospital. Moreover, this village has around 16 families, who have been facing this problem for quite some time.
