The world's heaviest captive panda cub has been born at Wolong Hetaoping Panda Sanctuary in southern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Wenchuan in Sichuan Province on July 27, shows the mother panda named Mei Qian hugging her baby tightly in her arms.

Another video shows a keeper cleaning the newborn panda cub in her hands.

The new-born panda cub weighs 249 grams and is believed to be the world's heaviest panda cub to be born in captivity.
