Dog rescued after 4 days in 26-foot-deep well in Indonesia
This is the dramatic moment of rescuing a dog trapped for four days at the bottom of a 26-foot-deep well in western Indonesia.
Footage filmed in a complex development project in Bukittinggi City on Monday (August 2), Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) officers seen using vertical rescue techniques to reach the dog at the bottom of the well.
PMI Bukittinggi volunteers who came down, Akmal, said the dog, seen in a weak condition at the bottom of the well, is also trying to hide against the wall.
"I slowly caught the dog to take it upstairs by hugging, but he tried to bite my hand," Akmal explained.
Officers tied the dog's body and pulled it to the well surface.
It took a dozen minutes to release the angry dog. Locals tried to feed the dog with rice and beef rendang.
The dog that was still tied up fell back into the well as it kept running here and there.
Perhaps as he was tired, the dog seemed to start to calm down when the officers untied his stomach until it was completely free and ran to the settlement.
According to local residents, Saipul Pasaribu, the existence of dogs in the well was first known by complex children when playing around the project on Thursday (July 29).
"They thought the dog was dead, but last Sunday I saw to the bottom of the well he moved and looked at the surface like asking for help," Pasaribu added.
Residents tried to help the dog out, but failed until they finally reported it and asked PMI volunteers for help.
Residents are now closing the wells to prevent people or animals from falling into the wells.
