Khanyisa is an orphaned albino elephant rescued in January 2020 from a poacher’s snare. She came to Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) and went through three months of rehabilitation for the horrific wounds caused by the snare.

Since then, Khanyisa has been integrated into to the Jabulani herd of rescued elephants and now spends her days out in the wild with them. A favourite activity for all of the elephants is swimming in the dam.
