This is the dramatic moment neighbours worked together to save a grandmother who fainted during a flood and fell into the water in the Philippines.

Footage shows the locals pulling a pensioner onto a tin roof as the muddy deluge reached chest-deep and submerged homes in a village in Balanga, Bataan province on July 29.

Onlooker Astrin Paliza said: 'We were so scared because she suddenly fainted while being taken to higher ground as the water already reached their roof.'

Emergency responders were called to the scene and gave first aid treatment to the old woman who is now in stable condition.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
