Survivors stranded in Karera, Madhya Pradesh, were airlifted to safety by helicopters after floods hit the area.

Residents waiting to be rescued stood upon the roofs of their houses as rising floodwater gushed around them.

Incessant rains and intensified weather conditions have wreaked havoc on the lives of locals in central India's Madhya Pradesh on August 5. The incident took place in Karera in the Shivpuri district.

Visuals feature heavy rains lashing the place, causing flood-like situations as the entire region gets inundated within seconds. The water level continues to rise while the raging stream of water swallows everything in it. Fortunately, the rescuers arrive and begin to save the stranded souls amid the gushing water while choppers press into service to reach the risky locations to airlift the trapped people atop their submerged houses.

Amid the ongoing rescue operations in the flood-affected areas in Madhya Pradesh, 10 gates of the Atal Sagar (Madikheda) Dam in Shivpuri district were opened due to the rise in the water level of the Sindh river. Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts for several districts in Madhya Pradesh, predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Moreover, Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft launched rescue operations to evacuate people stuck in some flooded villages of Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh as heavy rains continued to lash large parts of the state. Fortunately, 25 people from Sihore and Sunari were rescued from the flood-hit village on time and dropped at Shivpuri Helipad.
