Despite the challenging times in the country, illicit activities have been booming in southern India's Telangana on August 4. The incident took place in Devarakonda.

Visuals feature several logs of sandalwood lying on the ground in the middle of the day. The authorities place the seized wood in a line-like formation and stand adjacent to it while a police official discloses the details of the case.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) Sundarao, and Reserve Sub Inspectors (RSI) Lingadhar and Vishwanath, were inspecting the forest cover when they saw some people carrying red sandalwood logs on their shoulders. However, in the dead of the night, they managed to escape and left 23 sandalwoods weighing 705 kg (1554 lbs) worth Rs. 40 lakh (USD 53,904). Moreover, all the illicit items were seized while an investigation is underway.
