Police and medics evacuated someone on a stretcher from a station in Tokyo after a man attacked people on a train on Friday evening, 6 August.

Ten passengers were injured in the knife attack, including one woman who is seriously injured, according to reports.

It is not clear who the person on the stretcher was. They were also shielded behind screens during the evacuation, apparently for the sake of their privacy.

The incident occurred on an Odakyu Line train, between Seijogakuen-mae station and Soshigaya-Okura station in Setagaya Ward, at about 8:30pm local time.

The suspect, who left the knife at the scene, was detained one and a half hours later, in neighbouring Suginami Ward.
