Three people begin hunger strike at London protest for Gurkha pension equality
Three people began a hunger strike at a London protest on Saturday (7 August) for pension equality for retired Gurkha soldiers.
Gurkhas are Nepalese-born soldiers recruited into the British military.
Two Gurkha men and one woman -- Gyanraj Rai, Dhan Bahadur Gurung and Pushpa Ghale Rana -- began their hunger strike to appeal to the British government to match the pensions given to other former members of the British armed forces.
The protest was held outside Downing Street, home of the UK prime minister.
