Abandoned newborn baby found in front of beauty salon
An abandoned newborn baby boy was found in front of a beauty salon.
The infant estimated to be five-days-old was wrapped in a pink towel before he was found crying on a table outside the salon’s waiting area in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on August 4.
Along with the baby, there was a bag of supplies including talcum powder, milk bottles, and a stuffed toy left on the table.
Beauty salon owner Nattiya Kaewprasert, 46, contacted the police for help who are now searching for the boy’s mother.
Nattiya said: ‘I was shocked upon seeing the baby boy in front of my salon. He was so cue, I can’t imagine that a parent can do this to their child. I did not know what to do at first so I called the police.’
She added that before the baby was found, she saw a woman in front of the store holding an unknown object in her hand but left immediately on a motorbike.
She said: ‘I was curious when I heard someone was outside because it was still early. I looked from the window and saw a woman but I did not know if she was holding the baby.’
The baby was taken to Tung Song Hospital to receive proper care while the authorities gather evidence to find his identity.
Police are checking CCTV cameras to try and find the person who left the baby.
Police Colonel Montian Baothong said: ‘Whoever left the baby outside the shop will be arrested for endangering the life of the infant. He could have died.’
