A delivery rider was stuck on a flooded road after monsoon rains submerged a village in the Philippines.

The worker was taking food to customers in his two-wheeler when the water level suddenly rose in General Santos City on August 7.

Other motorists were able to pass through the deluge except for the rider who had to be assisted out of the waist-deep water.

Onlooker King Zapanta said: 'This was really a flood-prone area but the water rose too fast that day. I admire the rider for working despite the bad weather.'

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
