A stray cow in India demonstrated that species is no barrier to animal kindness when it fed two orphaned piglets.

Its generosity to other animals lost and struggling to survive in the world did not go unnoticed by passers-by, who were touched by what they saw.

The cow was resting when the piglets ran to it and started feeding from its udder. One of the piglets drank first, before the other followed suit.

The cow, which had given birth recently and still had milk, made no attempt to get rid of the piglets, who had lost their mother.

The incident took place next to Markapur bus stand in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

Locals said cows and pigs lived side-by-side in the vacant area near the bus stand but it was the first time they had witnessed anything like that.
