This is the moment a man proposed to his girlfriend - with the help of Batman and Joker lookalikes.

Will Cornish and Rachel Jarman have been together for just over seven months.

Rachel, 21, is a huge fan of Batman and the Joker, so Will, 20, decided to contact the Devon Super Team to help him pop the question.

The charity are dedicated to entertaining children with visits from superheroes and villains formed last year to raise the spirits of Devon’s kids stuck in lockdown.

And in a video posted online the two characters surprised the young couple at their home in Exeter, Devon.

Batman and the Joker can be seen distracting Rachel just long enough to let boyfriend Will sneak down onto one knee and take Rachel completely by surprise.

"I really couldn’t have had a better day," Rachel said.

"It started off with me going out with my dad and my mum got coffee, and I didn’t think anything of it.

"I just thought it was a normal day, my dad was acting a bit weird but I didn’t think anymore of it.

“William and I were in the back garden, and then he asked me to close my eyes and go to the front door, so I did what he asked me too, when I opened my eyes I was face to face with the Joker.

“Needless to say I was shocked, it’s not everyday where batman and the joker turn up.

“When I turned around William was on one knee and had tears in his eyes, he gave a speech about how much he loved me and how happy he was with me, and how thankful he was that I understand the important things about his job.”

A member of the Royal Navy, William has spent a significant amount of time away from home recently for his job.

The couple, who are huge fans of superhero games and films, are hoping to get married next October after Rachel said yes.

“Choosing Devon Super Team was the ideal choice for the idea of a proposal," Will said.

"I’ve always known that my now fiancé loves Batman and everything to do with Batman, she got me really into it.”

“I had heard about the super team before so I thought I would message them to enquire and they were so good and nice to talk too about it providing all the information.

"With all of those points together they were a clear cut choice of a proposal that my fiancé would love and I’m thrilled that she loved it so much she said yes.”
