A group of engineering students took project-making to another level when they developed a solar-electric car in northern India's Rajasthan. Visuals shot on August 3 feature the hard work of the young engineers from the Alwar district.

Visuals feature the mini four-seater vehicle in action. Looking like a golf car, solar-electric transport rules the streets of the region. Painted in white with blue seats, the adorable-looking car operates both on solar and electrical energy and smoothly covers the distances. Later, its makers pose with their prized possession.

A group of seven students, led by Ankit Kumar, designed the car and assembled it on their own. Moreover, they left no stone unturned in its making and made sure themselves that everything was in place, from the initial woodwork to the finishing touches.

Enrolled in the Laxmi Devi Institute Of Engineering And Technology, the group first decided to work on a smart parking project but later took up the solar-electric car project upon the instance of doing something for the future by their professors.

The young engineers spent a budget of Rs 75 thousand (USD 1,009) and developed the car in five months under the guidance of their mentor Mr. Sonu Manderna. The four-seater next-generation vehicle is fully equipped with batteries, solar panels, brakes, lights, and reverse gears.

Moreover, the solar-electric car can smoothly cover a distance of nearly 110 km (68 miles) on a full charge. Other than that, given the solar feature, the vehicle can drive for hours during the daytime.

The group, including Gaurav Kumar, Mohit Kumar Meena, Nawan Dabas, Manoj Verma, Manoj Kumar, and Shweta Serawal, developed the transport as the need of the hour, considering the rising fuel prices and the deteriorating condition of the environment.
