'London's worst tourist attraction' Marble Arch Mound set to close on Sunday
Marble Arch Mound, dubbed "London's worst tourist attraction" is set to close on Sunday (January 9).
The 25-meter-tall artificial hill was originally built to encourage visitors back to Oxford Street. It was though met with angry criticism over its spiralling cost and widespread ridicule over its makeshift appearance with the press often comparing it to a slag heap.
When costs nearly doubled to six million pounds ($8.3m), Westminster Council deputy leader Melvyn Caplan resigned in August.
In addition to the spiralling budget for the fake hill, it has drawn fewer visitors and more negative reviews than expected. So much so that the council made the attraction free and refunded those who previously paid to go up.
The footage in this clip was filmed on August 13.
