Japan's Meteorological Agency issued its strongest emergency warning for heavy rain for the city of Hiroshima, western Japan Friday, August 13, urging people to ensure their safety.
Gonokawa and Suzuharikawa rivers that run through the city flooded due to the rain.
Heavy rainfall was also reported in neighboring Akitakata and Kitahiroshima Town.
Widespread flooding resulted from the heavy rains in Nagasaki, Saga, and Fukuoka prefectures. Weather authorities forecast the rain to continue until Saturday.
