Authorities in southern India have seized a haul of jewellery and decorative items made from elephants tusks, deer antlers and turtle shells.

Acting on a tip-off, police searched a house in the Kanniyakumari district of Tamilnadu earlier this month (August) and found a host of items made from ivory, along with antlers and whole turtle shells.

The owner of the home was taken into custody and is being investigated.

Azhagapuram area is located in Kanniyakumari district of Tamilnadu. Police department got an information that a person in this area is having jewellery and home decors made from deer s Antlers and Elephant tusks.

Police went and searched the house. They they seized bangles, God sculptures and Jewellery box made from elephant s tusk s. And they also seized deer s Antlers and a rare variety of conch shell from the house.

Then the owner of the house is taken into custody and he was investigated on where he bought those things.
