Aerial views of Evia Island in Greece show the scale of the destruction caused by wildfires there.

The awe-inspiring drone footage, filmed in Rovies on Saturday 14 August, shows almost nothing left after the fires that spread all over the northern part of the island, from the mountains to the sea.

Forests have been reduced to charred sticks, buildings to burnt shells, and the countryside continues to smoulder.

The fires burned for over a week, making it one of the largest such disasters the country has faced.

Houses, pine forests, olive groves, churches, animals and businesses were all burned, and locals were asked many times to evacuate.
