Flash floods gushed through villages after continuous heavy rain hit Southern Thailand.

Footage shows heavy downpour overflowing from canals causing severe floods in several villages in Ban Song district, Surat Thani province on August 15.

The flood lasted for two hours before the water level returned to normal. No injuries have been reported but several properties were damaged.

Resident Nuk Naraporn said: ‘It was so scary. We had to leave our homes and leave our properties to be damaged. I hope everyone was safe.’

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
