Around 11 luxury car owners were held, and their cars seized over tax evasion charges in southern India's Telangana on August 15. The incident took place in Hyderabad.

Visuals show all the luxury cars lined up in the corner of the road while their owners are out on Independence day celebration. Transport authority officials question the owners as they fidget their way into calls and explanations, however, they seem in no mood to buy it.

The cars, including Rolls Royce, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati, were bought and registered in other states and operating in Hyderabad without paying road taxes. Officials from the Road Transport Authority (RTA) were monitoring their movements for six months before they were finally held up on the Hyderabad airport route on Independence Day.

The cease down of these happened after the Deputy Commissioner along with 40 RTA officials took immediate action when informed about their movements, and the seizure is expected to collect between Rs. 3 crores (USD 4,03,808) to Rs. 8 crores (USD 10,76,822). Citizens were urged to duly pay their taxes including the road tax, and it was strictly clarified that under no circumstances will vehicles bought and registered in other states be allowed to run in Telangana without the payment of road taxes. This luxury car seizure is expected to go down as one of the biggest in Telangana's history.
