A prototype of the newest light military transport aircraft Il-112V crashed in Moscow on August 17. The plane crashed in the woods during a training flight during the landing approach in the area of ​​the Kubinka airfield.

Before the fall, the right engine of the plane caught fire, as the crew reported to the ground. A few seconds later, judging by eyewitness video, the plane began to lose speed, banked to starboard, overturned and fell one and a half kilometers from the runway. The pilots tried to steer the plane away from residential buildings. Il-112V completely burned down during the crash.

Three pilots were killed in the crash. Among them is Nikolai Kuimov, who headed the plane's crew. Also on board were first class test pilot Dmitry Komarov and first class test flight engineer Nikolai Khludeev.
