Endangered Indian start tortoises rescued from a smuggling gang in South India

Location: Chennai Airport Chennai District of Tamilnadu State India.

Customs officers as a part of their routine checks saw a parcel and it was named as Crabs that needed to be sent to Thailand. Suspecting the sender of the parcel the customs officials oped the box and to their suprise they saw endangered species of Star tortoises. These were about to smuggle to Thailand. It's worth is around 30 thousand Euros. 15 like such boxes were seized and on that 2500 start tortoises were there alive.

Then the forest officials were called and these tortoises were handed over to them. They will be released in deep woods later after a small checks with their health said the forest officials.
