Low attendance for Olympic games medalists return in Hong Kong

On Thursday 19 August 2021, the Hong Kong Government announced that the medalists of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong would be having a celebratory procession riding two open-roofed buses in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. Rather surprisingly, the procession time was fixed at 9.40 Am, a time where most people are at work or on the way to work. As a result, quite few people were on the path of the procession, many of them carrying Hong Kong and China flags.

Previously, during the Olympic games, a man was arrested for flying a Colonial flag of Hong Kong during the Chinese national anthem and chanting slogans such as "We are Hong Kong".
