Traffic came to a standstill in Utah as aerial firefighters attempted to extinguish the Parleys Canyon fire.

Footage from August 14 shows the aircraft drop a cloud of fire retardant onto the smoking hillside.

Filmer Tracey Dean said: "We took this video on our way to the Indigo Girls concert in Deer Valley. We hit a standstill of traffic due to the Parleys Canyon fire. It started due to a faulty catalytic converter.

"Eventually, the concert was cancelled due to the need for emergency crews to work on the fire. We upgraded our hotel at the Lodges Deer Valley to a suite."

As of Monday, August 16, the blaze had burned around 539 acres, prompting an increase in the number of fire teams. Moreover, evacuation orders were issued for the nearby residents.
