Two retiring sniffer dogs were given a farewell ceremony in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The canines had been working as sniffer dogs at the city's airport and were involved in bomb detection squads.

Officers gave the dogs named Badal and Raji a large sendoff for their 10 years of service.

The dogs will be sent back to Central Industrial Security Force’s headquarters and sold.

Two dogs, Badal and Raji, that were part of the Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) dog squad, involved in the bomb detection and disposal squad, retired yesterday. They were involved in the Chennai Airport security and VVIP checks.

Considering their loyal service for the past 10 years, Badal and Raji were given royal farewell. They were felicitated in an event organised by the CISF team in Chennai Airport.

Meanwhile 3 other sniffer dogs called Bruno, Tejas and Vetri were brought in as a replacement to Badal and Raji.


Officials said the retired dogs would be sent back to CISF HQ in Ranchi district of Jharkhand state in North India and would be sold in an auction after six months.

Earlier a cake was cut and served to the sniffer dogs. They were taken in a open police vehicle with a shower of flowers and all the officers bid adieu to the sniffer buddies
