In this clip filmed yesterday (August 21) in London, young women call for equal rights in Afghanistan. "We want women's rights", they chant.

The crowd is seen waving the Afghanistan flag in solidarity with the population, and holding banners that say: "Stop legitimasing Taliban".

US-led forces removed the group from power in 2001, but the Taliban managed to retake power of the country on August 15, 2021.

Women call for equal rights in a London demonstration held yesterday (August 21) as the country's government gave way to Taliban rule who believe in applying strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, that 20 years ago saw women and girls being confined to the home and banned from being outside unless accompanied by a male relation.

Approximately 42% of Afghanistan's population is under 15 years old and too young to remember the Taliban in power.
