Hundreds of Afghanistan Refugees protest in front of the UNHCR Jakarta office at Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta on Tuesday 24 August 2021.
Thay held this protest to pressure UNHCR, the Australian government and other countries that received refugees from Indonesia to work on the long-running resettlement process. Thousands of refugees have been waiting here in Indonesia for 8-10 years to be resettled. Not only adults, but children also join this protest. The police asked the demonstrators to disperse because Jakarta is still implementing PPKM level 3 to anticipate the transmission of covid-19.
