A homeless Cape Town woman has appealed to President Cyril Ramaphosa to intervene in City of Cape Town law enforcement operations where the makeshift beds, tents and possessions of homeless people are confiscated.

Since the start of the week, Cape Town law enforcement officers have started moving homeless people off the streets by fining them and confiscating their possessions.

The City of Cape Town is politically under the control of the Democratic Alliance, South Africa's official opposition party. The Western Cape, is the only province in the country not controlled by President Ramaphosa's party, the African National Congress.
