Panic hit a college in North India when a civet cat holed itself up in its library on 26 August.

The wild animal strayed from its natural habitat to enter Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan Degree College in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, causing widespread panic amongst students.

Video shows the civet hiding behind the cupboards of the college library while nervous-sounding forestry official rescuers try to capture it.

The creature shows no sign of wanting to come with them however and tries to crawl under another cupboard after being evicted from the first one.

The rescuers have to use several sticks with grabbing mechanisms on the end to pull it out, before putting it in a bag to release into the wild later.
