This is the heart-warming moment a deaf dog was rescued after it spent two days trapped in a storm drain.

Rescuers were called when the 15-year-old dog, Zoey, was found in a drainage pipe, and spent ten hours breaking through the road to reach the pup.

Eventually, it was pulled out, covered nose-to-tail in mud, to the cheers of a crowd of neighbours in Arlington, Texas, USA.

The labrador retriever went missing on August 19 after owner Andrea Tankersley let the pet outside.

Andrea and her neighbours went out to try and call to the dog, but it was no use because the senior dog has lost its hearing.

Zoey wasn't found until two days later when neighbours heard barking from pipes under the road.

Firefighters from the Arlington Fire Department attended and used a camera to look for under the street.

The muddy pooch was found 400ft from the nearest drain entrance, where it is thought to have fallen in, and the team began trying to break through the asphalt.

With the help of police, paramedics and other members of the community, the dog was pulled out of the drain at about by 10.42pm that evening.

Zoey had no severe injuries, but was taken to an Animal Medical Centre to be checked over before being returned home.

The video was taken on August 21 2021.
