Beautiful HD drone footage of the just completed massive 69-metre-tall (230 ft) Buddha statue sitting in the Royal Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen temple. The important temple complex dates back to 1610 and is surrounded by canals fed from Chao Phraya river.

Work started on the giant Buddha in 2017, but due to the coronavirus pandemic the official opening may be pushed back to 2022. Bits of the statue were made in China, from copper and then painted with gold..

The statue, sitting in the lotus position, was built to honor Buddhism with 500 million baht (USD 15,250,000) of donations and is also as a tribute to abbot Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro. It was designed to be visible from all parts of a raised train line which snakes thorough the Thai capital.

The video is accompanied by sound I recorded personally from a Thai Temple.
