This clip shows the funeral of former Chadian President Hissène Habré, taking place in the city of Yoff, Senegal, on August 26.

Habré died on August 24 after contracting COVID-19.

The coffin, draped in a black and gold sheet, is seen lying on the ground before being brought to the burial site. A group of people and the imam pray in silence. Several political and religious authorities attended the funeral, held at the Omar Mosque.

Hissène Habré governed Chad from 1982 to 1990. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2016 for war crimes. They include the torture, killing, and rape of thousands of political opponents.
