The fire forced thousands of people to flee the city of South Lake Tahoe, California, as the entire resort town fell under evacuation orders. Wildfire rushed to the large freshwater Lake Tahoe, through which the border between California and Nevada passes. Localities located a few kilometers south of the lake were suddenly ordered to evacuate on Sunday.
