Fire-fighters are still battling California's Caldor Fire after residents of South Lake Tahoe were ordered to leave.

Monday's evacuation order resulted in traffic jams around the resort town, which is home to more than 20,000 people.

Footage shows huge clouds of smoke emerging from the fire on Tuesday 31 August.

The fire has burned more than 191,600 acres and continues to spread in Northern California.

The governors of that state and neighbouring Nevada have declared states of emergency.

Scientists say climate change has made extreme weather events and wildfires more likely.
