Cal Fire responded to reports of a big rig tanker that came off the eastbound side of the I-10 near the Hargrave on-ramp in Banning, CA and landing near the rail road tracks. A SIG alert was issued for a full eastbound closure of the i-10 from 8th St to Hargrave. Fire officials working with railroad personnel estimated 5 to 6 hours were needed at least to clean the 9000 gallon spill and remove the tanker wreckage. A few lanes of the westbound 10 are being opened eastbound while crews continue with cleanup operations. The driver of the tanker was transported with unknown injuries. It's unknown at this time if intoxication was a factor in the crash or what may have caused the driver to veer off the freeway. CHP INDIO CAD LOG N 00027
