This is the moment a flash flood filled car after a heavy rain storm in Thailand.

The motorist was driving home in Samut Prakan province on the outskirts of Bangkok after several hours of continuous downpours on Sunday August 29.

He said: ‘There was no other was for me to get home other than drive through the water. I’ll let my car dry out for a day so it should be fine after that.’

Water pumps were deployed to drain the water out of a nearby industrial estate which was also flooded after the storm.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.

Thailand suffers from regular flash floods due to the chronic under-investment in its city infrastructure, with drains and sewers overwhelmed with water.
