Thai shopping malls re-opened this week as Covid-19 cases fell and restrictions were eased.

Footage shows locals visiting the Central Phra Ram 9 mall in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 3.

Health chief relaxed lockdown measures on September 1 following several days of falling case numbers. Massage parlours, shopping malls, restaurants and flights between provinces have since all resumed but a 9pm – 4am curfew remains in place.

Ministers hope that a mass vaccine roll-out which started in May will allow them to re-open the country by the end of October so tourism can splutter back into life.

Thailand recorded 14,653 Covid-19 cases on September 3, a sharp fall from the high of 23,418 on August 13. A total of 12,374 deaths have so far been recorded.
