Dozens of cars crashed on a slippery road after a heavy rainstorm in Thailand.

CCTV shows the multiple accidents that happened in front of the car dealership over the past month in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Staff said that car crashes rise during the monsoon rainy seasons as the roads tend to be slippery, causing vehicles to lose control of the curve. Traces of accidents could be seen in front of the shop.

The car dealership owner said there have been more than fifteen accidents that happened in August but fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

He said: ‘The accidents often happen on the first day of rainfall. We believe that the rain washes out dust and dirt accumulated on the road surface, making it slippery and dangerous.’

After the traffic lane expansion and the change from the asphalt road to concrete road, there have been more accidents recorded in the area.

Director of Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District 1 Pitchhun Sorworanet said: ‘The area is part of the highway network restoration project which was constructed by the Road Construction Bureau.

‘Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District is aware of the problems and complaints after hearing the news of complaints about the slippery roads and the multiple accidents via social media.’

The highway officials along with the project technician have installed equipment namely, a u-turn sign, a curve warning sign, a speed limit sign, flashing lights, and cones to lead vehicles.

Officials are working on finding a long-term solution to the problem. Drivers are advised to be more cautious to prevent future accidents.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are at the peak of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
