The Indian authorities were maintaining strict curbs in the Kashmir Valley, after the burial of veteran separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Footage shot on Friday 3 September showed troops manning roadblocks in the area, amid a curfew and curbs on public movement.

Soldiers flooded the streets of Srinagar, Kashmir’s main city, within hours of the death of 91-year-old Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday 1 September. He had been under house arrest for a decade.

The authorities have also shut down or severely restricted mobile phone and internet services in the Kashmir Valley.
