Large boulder falls on house during hairbrained construction work
Unscientific construction work caused a catastrophe, which nearly destroyed a house though luckily no one was hurt. A construction contractor was getting a site ready to build a multistory building at Gulmohar Park Colony, Sherilingampally, Hyderabad, state of Telangana, India. He had assured that he would remove two boulders, carefully without causing any damage to the surrounding houses. He brought in a JCB machine and tied a rope around to the top boulder and started pulling it. He was hoping that the JCB would tug the boulder away from the house and drop it safely to the ground. But the boulder tilted sideways and fell down unexpectedly on an adjacent house. It crashed and destroyed the compound missing the main building by a few feet. As all residents of the house were outside watching the construction work nobody was hurt. A complaint has been filed at Chandanagar police station against the contractor for causing loss to property and endangering lives.
