Red sandalwood logs worth $ 2,05,327 seized in southern India

Officials seized 115 red sandalwood logs worth Rs 1.5 crore (USD 2,05,327) and four vehicles in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on September 5. The incident took place in the Chittoor district.

The visual features the retrieved red sandalwood logs resting on the red counter with a tracker stationed behind. The officials carry and place the logs on top of the retrieved cars. Following this, the authorities stand in line and pose in front of the recovered sandalwood logs with 13 interstate red sandalwood smugglers arrested masked with black cloth. Later, the officer provides details of the scene.

It is reported a special teams were set up to monitor the smuggling of red sandalwood in Chittoor district under the supervision of Chittoor District Superintendent of Police (SP) Shri S Senthil Kumar, Joint Director, SEB Shri V. Vidyasagar Naidu, Indian Police Service (IPS).

Peeler Urban PS Inspector Shri A. Sadiq Ali supervised police and Special Party personnel while inspecting vehicles they found cars and a container with 115 red sandalwood logs. Furthermore, the seized red sandalwood logs and vehicles together amounted to about Rs 2 crore (USD 2,73,740).
