Villagers and tourists are alarmed to see the normally pristine clear River Menahyl which flows through St Mawgan village in Cornwall heavily clouded. An outfall by the ancient church belonging to South West Water, according to their helpline operative, is seen disgorging dense brown water directly into the river which is famous for Brown trout, Sea Trout, Lampreys and eels. The subsequently cloudy water continues towards the sea outlet at the beach at very popular Mawgan Porth. The Environment Agency is investigating and further comment is awaited from South West Water who are currently sampling the river.
