A firefighter in Placerville, California, has filmed close-up footage of the blaze that has burnt through 216,000 acres in the state.

Filmed by Christian Haugen, this video shows firefighters trying to get the Caldor Fire under control.

Haugen wrote: "The Caldor Fire in Placerville, California was a destructive force of nature that threatened many lives and structures in the El Dorado forest region.

"As the fire raged through the lands, firefighters made a great difference in saving people’s homes and lives while risking their own.

"This video documents my experience of being a part of the crew that helped in eliminating the threat."

Filmed by Christian Haugen, this video shows firefighters trying to get the Caldor Fire under control. By the end of August 2021, the said wildfire had already burned over 700sq km, damaging countless buildings and prompting several evacuations in the process.
